My teammate Karl and I had a great dual going this weekend. I used this race to get some more km’s of racing under my belt. It was a fun and fast race and the organizers did a terrific job.
This week I am getting ready to head to Maine for US Nationals… I will only be doing the 2 distance races and I am looking for some good results!

I hope you all hade a great Christmas. We had a wonderful one. It is a blessing to be a parent at Christmas time. I raced at Como this morning and will add details later, until then, a special thanks to Mrs. Clause who bought and wrapped all the gifts, baked lots of food, put up all the decorations and made Christmas a memorable one.
This past weekend I raced my first mini-tour, 3 races in 3 days. I ended up skiing OK in the first 2 races but I had some health/breathing issues during the classic race and was forced to drop out with 5k to go. I am a little bummed because I had hoped to race quite a bit faster than I managed. I am planning to race Nationals with the hope of getting healthy and finding 5th gear before the races. I have been feeling good since I got home and will start to ramp up the training in the next few days.
In other news, the CXC van was hit by a semi today. Everyone was OK but the trailer got toasted. Also, I managed to rip a hole in my Thule box as I drove it into the garage door today=( Hope all the accidents are done for awhile.
It’s been a busy last couple of days but I am finally settling down in Rossland, BC. Friday night I flew out of Minneapolis at 10pm to beat the blizzard. Good thing because my Saturday flights were canned. I got into my hotel in Seattle at 3am CST… not great for the night before the night before an important race. Saturday morning I flew from SeaTac to Kelowna and then drove up to Silver Star, tested skis and went to bed. The next morning I had my first big race of the season. I felt OK but I was not moving well on my 2nd and 3rd laps. My result was probably a combination of long travel and no acclimation but overall I was happy with my effort. Regardless, after a long nap after the race I was able to skate out some of my post race blues in an intense hockey match. On Monday the CXC team had another long travel day as we drove to Rossland, BC. This weekend we have a mini Tour with 3 races in 3 days. I am looking forward to having stronger results; especially since these races are at a little lower elevation and I should be well rested.
