This Sunday Piotr hosted a Biathlon race in Elk River. It was a ton of fun and I think I could be really good… I just have to learn how to shoot! Thank you Jon Sanborn for taking this pic. Also, please keep passing my resume around. I have had some interest this past week which is very exciting!
Tomorrow (March 6th) at 11:21 am Grant will be two! The day he was born is one of my most vivid memories and I can remember it like it was yesterday. Grant brings so much energy to life and always puts a smile on my face.
Happy Birthday Grant! We LOVE you!
Marybeth’s Mom made the most amazing gluten free cake. I will always remeber it. Thank you Sherri!
This past January when the Olympic team was named for the Vancouver Games I was instantly asked “Will you try for the next Olympics?” Honestly, I was very disappointed and was not thinking about the next four years. I was working on finishing this season strong and staying focused on my upcoming races. However, with my season complete I am now left with the question of “What will life hold next?”
I have the passion for skiing and I think I will only continue to get faster. I would like to try for the 2014 Olympic Games. Nevertheless, in order for that to happen I need some things to fall into place.
In the U.S. there is very limited funding for elite athletes. While this is unfortunate, it is the situation I find myself in. Unlike many other countries that support athletes and their families, and see training as a job, the U.S. does not do this. I find this very disappointing. I am also one of a very few U.S. cross country ski athletes with a wife and children. While I am an athlete, I want everyone to know I am a husband and Dad first and foremost.
I am asking everyone to scratch your head and spread the word. My resume is attached below. I am looking for a job with health benefits and flexible hours. I have a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota. I am hoping I can find something, if not I will have to kiss my Olympic dream of Sochi good bye.
Thank you,
Matt
